Virgin user misses the end.

Have a Virgin Plus box , very pleased apart
from occasionally after setting a recording from TV guide
we seem to stop recording before the end of the programme .

Would be easy in past, would check clock settings and maybe add 5 mins
But with the plus , no clock and no 5 min safety

Has anyone any ideas ?

I also have a V+ box and have noticed the same thing occasinally.

Apparently there is a way to do what you want, but I haven't looked into it myself, here's why:

The V+ box is a 3 channel PVR. You can simultaneously record two channels while watching live on a third. If you have two shows set to record with one starting straight after the first has finished, eg one at 8pm to 9pm and the second at 9pm to 10pm, then these will only use one of the recording channels as long as there is no overlap.

If you change the settings to allow for five minutes extra on each end, then two shows recording one after the other will use both your recording channels, so if you try and set another show to record at the same time, it will fail due to this overlap. We have a lot of shows that clash, hence why I haven't changed my settings :)

Am I making any sense?:o

I'll have a look at mine and see if I can work it out for you.

Here's what you need to do:
    • Press the V+ button.
    • Select V+ Extras (Option 4)
    • Select Extend Recordings (Option 2)
    • Change the start and finish settings to suit.
This is how to do it based on my box, but I assume it will be the same whichever box you have.

Just be aware of the complications it can cause, especially when you start to add more simultaneous and consecutive recordings.

It still misses the end of programs occassionally. Not sure if it is due to the channels having problems with the schedules and things overrunning or the V+.

Having said that it's a great bit of kit. We got one when the TVdrive, as it was called then, was launched. Wouldn't be without it now.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
