Hi all, hope you can help.
This Trojan has over taken my desktop despite having AVG free and windows defender on it. I now can't get rid of it. what do I do?
AVG and Windows defender scans say I have no problem, however this Antivirus live takes over, says we've got numerous problems, and when you try and delete or quarantine them it leads you to their purchasing page.
Have also tried to run CCleaner but it won't let me.
Tried to go to control panel to remove program, it won't let you.
Won't let me get onto the internet.
don't know what else to do.
Any help would be gratefully received, or is it dead???

Could you download http://www.malwarebytes.org/ and run that? Strange how it passed through two lines of defense. Sometimes - I do stress sometimes - a System Restore will return you to a previously good known working state.
I would definitely - after the resultant removal of the virus - update manually your virus and malware definitions.0 -
despite having AVG free
well with its awful virus detection rates that's probably a fair portion of the problem
is your anti virus up to date with its definition files?
you should follow the malware bytes/hijack this route as per this sticky
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=133269
then you should uninstall AVG and get a reliable free anti virus:
avast, Microsoft Security Essentials or Avira (if they've fixed their update server problems) are all regularly recommended around here0 -
Press F8 key at start up and select Safe mode with networking.
Download Malwarebytes ,update and run full scan.Delete anything found then post log here.

hi guys, thanks for your input so far.
Got the computer on safe mode with networking but it won't connect to the internet, or when i can connect it not recognising the address.
Think the thing is dead.
Any further ideas?0 -
Can you download Malwarebytes to a Usb flash drive on another computer?
Do you have another browser?0 -

hi, i had this.
initially was a nightmare to get rid of as couldnt connect or use any progs.
then i found out if you go to start, run, type in msconfiq and disable anything that is associated to antivrus live in the startup tab. then this gives you time to connect and download progs you need.
this link should help http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-removal/remove-antivirus-live0 -
I had this yesterday. I started the computer in safe mode then used System Restore to revert my computer back to 13 December and this got rid of it. On this computer I was using AVG but on my laptop Avast found this trojan and deleted it befor it did any damage, so I suggest installing Avast if you manage to get rid of it.
Good luck!0 -

Its quite unusual for that to work. Dont be too suprised if you continue to have problems in the future:idea:0
