this HR dept reminds me of another HR dept that (on friend's very successful appeal) were severely repimanded for their incompetence and all sent for retraining - which is why i asked OP about whether this is a branch/chain etc...

the other's are correct - if there are NO drugs allegations, then there is NO case full stop! they have shot themselves in the foot big time - let's just hope they realise this:D.

OP, in the words of The Redskins 'keep on keeping on'....

If he drug allegations are only based on the apparently drunk manager, they are on a sticky wicket imho, that is why they may be after pinning sustained abuse on OP, however one drunken incident, surely could not be construed as being sustained.

Since the OP has not been pulled up before on Threatening Behaviour (if I remember correctly) they are on a VERY sticky wicket indeed.....

Should have an answer on Monday, they've scheduled it for 10am.

I have an interview today, almost identical job - more money... apparently they think i'm the perfect candidate, they're just interested in why I want to leave the Company I currently work for... I have no idea how to explain it...

Best of luck to you for both Monday and if you do decide to go for the other job. Hope everything works out well for you.

without knowing exactly what you do it's a bit tricky but it depends on if it's a person asking or the company if you know what I mean. the line manager is going to be interested and you can start to let him get to know you as a person with an honest answer, but if this is going to go to a board, then sounding a bit clich! might be better than being honest.

Safe but pants answers include: you don't like the commute/route/distance/scenery, the atmosphere in the office stifles creativity, you don't feel like there's any progression in the company, your looking for something to challenge/stretch yourself professionally/personally, you've researched their company and feel they're the superior company (ethically/environmentally/industry leaders), you want to benefit from the flexi hours/pension/transfer to china/company car they're going to offer you.

Or honesty, you have conflicts working with one of the managers in your company and feel that, while you could continue working there and for them, you would be happier changing your working environment as there's really not much you can do when personalities clash, can you?

Or near honesty and a bit pants, in the current economic climate you've been looking at your situation and they can offer you so much more in terms of professional development and financial security meaning you can pay of your mortgage in 5 years instead of 15 and should be able to afford to send your wife to visit her relatives in china more often/have them visit you.

    oh, and good luck

It's amazing how those with a can-do attitude and willingness to 'pitch in and work' get all the luck, isn't it?

As you're still employed I would, as already suggested, state your reason for wishing to leave as wanting a new challenge, etc etc.

Good Luck for Monday, hopefully the whole thing is thrown out and if you get this other job you can resign... and perhaps sue them for constructive dismissal.
