  • Not at all, you are stressed with how this is affecting you as a person and how these accusations are ruining your character etc.

Anti depressants does he class you as depressed I try other things instead of that if I get stressed.

THe kalms tablets help and also taking 5htp from the health food shop, you dont wanna go down the route of anti depressants unless its really the last step.

    Richard,

And what qualifies you to make this assessment of ADs ?
  • U have to wean yourself off them.

Seriously though read up on 5htp I was suffering from stress and unsettledness and they helped me and I feel I can face things.

It converts into your body into the natural feel good chemical serotonin but its a natural product.

Make sure you are taking vitamins and also look into getting some kalms as they are good for situations like this and help temporarily. All natural..

Mate - your welcome to your opinion but I think medical advice should be followed rather than some half-arsed anti-Ad stuff you're preaching...

Just read this (phew!) and wanted to add my support the OP.

I work in HR and am amazed they are taking the drugs angle so far given the complete and utter lack of any sort of reasonable proof. The abusive behaviour may be a better rationale for a disciplinary meeting - though given the context for your ire and the fact everyone was boozed up (oh how we HR bods love the Xmas parties...) this is a touch surprising also

In a nutshell I'm afraid they have got it in for you mate - that much is very clear. However, that does not mean you should accept it. Good work on putting in the greivance, this is a sensible move despite being an aggresive one. There are some posters on here who have offered sage advice on HR process and employment law and I would only be repeating much of it if I piped up too so all I will say here is good luck.

PS In December 50%+ of my office had colds. I dread to think how many I would have been interviewing for drugs misdemeanours if sniffing loudly automatically made them suspect! Come to think of it, I think I would have been asking myself some pretty searching questions...

  • I must admit I've been in a similar situation where the company I worked for wanted to get rid of a few people without the hassle of redundancy. They called a few of us in with made up allegations etc and told us sign an agreement or be sacked eventually.

I got legal advice and they told me it wasnt worht the hassle and I'd be better taking the financial package (it was 3 months pay) and getting a new job. Good thing was I got a new job in about 2 weeks so I was quids in.

Also, my initial employer went down the pan a few months later. I was well pleased about that.

Nevermind having a cold, just being out in the cold makes my eyes and nose water! The logic behind the accusation is absurd!

Well, I visited the Doctor and they seemed very concerned with my current mental health etc and have signed me off for two weeks.

I sent an email to HR to advise them of this and as I returned to my inbox, this was waiting for me.

    Matthew,

I acknowledge reciept of your email below and understand your concerns.

Due to the nature of the grievance being in connection with the subject of the disciplinary, investigations have already been conducted on the event and we are aware of the content that you have raised. I would like to assure you that we will deal with this matter appropriately through the correct Company practices.

Given that we have this information and will take any corrective action as necessary, I suggest that we continue with the arrangements already made for Monday unless you have any further concerns that you would like to discuss. I appreciate that this is a difficult time for you and that due to the holidays you have been on suspension for a length of time now and I would therefore like to keep the process moving in everybody's interest.

Again, if you do have any concerns with this please inform me prior to the arrangements set out for Monday.

    Regards

It may be better to ask them to postpone the meeting for the two weeks, as it would be unfair to ask you to attend whilst signed off, If they insist that you MUST attend they must be asked the question: would they "expect you or anyone else to work if you/they were covered by a sicknote?" as it is not a long term absence. If they insist on you attending I think they would be on a very slippery slope imho. I'm sure others better qualified (excluding the defender of the crossroads at Ogremor) will be able to offer constructive advice also. Try not to worry.

Tbh I would suggest you attend. Its really in your interests to resolve it quickly.

If you start delaying them with sick notes etc no matter how genuine the sick note is it wont look good and makes returning to work later a lot more difficult.

Its only a 2 week sick note.
To be honest what did they expect when they prolonged this matter all over the xmas/new year period.
While they were all out getting wrecked and having a fantastic time, I was sat at home not going out trying to save as much money as possible in case thats my last paycheck...

I truly am not well at the moment and as the doctor suggested it may give me time to get my head in the right place to be able to fight this thing to the best of my ability.

I know what you're saying though. It looks bad.

With stress though 2 weeks almost normally turns into 2 months then 6 months and basically always tends to end either when sick pay cuts off or they are dismissed.

The office was closed over xmas, there would have been more wrong imo with special opening for an discliplinary than waiting.

I would suggest you reply along the lines of

" My GP feels that this hearing at this stage could be greatly damaging to my health and that the 2 week break is urgently required. In view of this that would be my preferred option.

However like you I am keen to conclude this matter ASAP, therefore, if you feel that it can be conducted without worsening my medical condition I am willing to attend on the condition that should I deem it necessary at any point due to my illness than I can leave immediately without any prejudice to either party and the matter can reconvene at a time my GP deems suitable"

This way your not saying no but they would be stupid to make you come.
