If the work party was an official function then stick in a grievance about his behaviour detailing events and offering to take a drugs test at company expense.
If not an official do and the manager has made allegations after the event then you can still stick in a grievance as spreading rumours is a form of bullying and should not be tolerated.
Anyway, as a manager, he has a duty of care to you, your colleagues and to the business so he should actively do something about his suspicions that you are a drug addict as it could affect your work or the decisions you make. So if his concern was genuine, he should have made it "official" himself raher than just using rumour and gossip.:hello:0 -
Sounds like the manager was off his head on alcohol and being a total idiot, can he even remember what he said?
I would be straight to HR putting in a grievance and announcing I would be contacting my solicitor.
Oh and apart from the 2 who stayed with you, what a bunch of bloody sheep you work with!
... this is what I'd do as well. IMO if you let this go you're setting yourself up for a bigger fall in the future. This is the premise all bullies work on.
Also you have no need to justify the way you look or tell anyone whether or not you are "one of the lads".0 -
This is a serious allegation, made by a senior manager without any basis. The very first thing on Monday, go to HR and make it VERY clear that you are very upset at this allegation and get this stopped before a rumour develops. Yes that bloke may have been drunk and 'sounding off' to be the 'Big I am' but that is no excuse.:rotfl:Ahahah got my signature removed for claiming MSE thought it was too boring :rotfl:0

How unprofessional of a manager, I can't believe what I have read. Totally agree with the grievence procedure as a way forward. My worry would be if you did nothing and allowed this manager to get away with it would people wrongly think you have something to hide also what if he does something similar to someone else maybe not as strong as you.Debt at LBM £19700 :eek:

sue the guy for slander. what an idiot he is0

A few years ago a colleague of mine was in an identical situation, he didnt get pulled up officially by HR so never defended himself, unfortunately it did ruin his reputation with managment and he eventually left as there was no chance he would ever be promoted and they probably would have got rid of him one way or another.
Might be worth you sitting down with HR first, play it low key, say you sniffed as you were coming out the toilet and this guy had, had a few beers and put 2 and 2 together and come up with 5, you're obviously clean but you wanted it noted in case there are any allegations made which, you would obviously have to take extremly seriously and see if there is a case for slander.Snootchie Bootchies!0 -
I know this is totally off topic (I will say the guy sounds like a complete and total moron, what's he going to say to these seniors? He heard you sniffing in the toilet on a night out? They should laugh him out of the place if they've any sense.) but this has just reminded me of something funny;
basically where I work we sometimes have police dog training because its a suitable type of place (no, not full of drugs!) lots of places to put things etc etc, anyway, the cops had put a deactivated 9mm pistol in the bag of someone that works with me, the dog came in and sniffed about - started going crazy around his bag. A different Policeman to who hid the gun puts his hand into the bag and pulls out a bag of white powder!! Turns out it was just chalk for the gym but for a split second he went totally white and the coppers were like "errr?!"0 -
I would put in a grievance with HR first thing on Monday morning and also see a solicitor regarding suing him for slander. Mention to HR that you are also considering suing for slander. Tell your line manager what is going on. Are you in a union? Was this an official work event (i.e. did the Company pay for or partly pay for it)? If so, this counts as being 'at work' and HR will have no option but to follow it up.0

I'm sorry but I have to laugh, this manager of yours is so off it, its hilarious, he sounds like the Alan Partridge drug worker....:rotfl:
Tell him, calmly, that he is wrong, he has misinterpretated an innocent situation and has stated untruths about you which you will not only refute but expect some form of recompence for the mental distress and slur on your character.
I also suggest that you suggest he talks to FRANK, in order to get his facts right in future.;)
