Just a add on to my last post, if you dont already ensure all your internal doors are shut, radiators are designed for the room size not the full house.
If it doesnt pay rent sell it.

Have a pick through the advice here ...sounds like youve done most of the obvious things so not sure it will help.

One idea (not sure if it's in the above webpage advice as i havent looked) is to fit some radiator reflector foil to the external walls behind rads which might help.

This is quite effective and often overlooked.
  • Been looking at solid wall insulation recently as well...

Has anyone actually had it done? What were your experiences? Good/bad? Can you "feel" the effect?

Also inetrested in what type you went for?

I really like having "solid" walls - not horrible dot 'n' dab. Is there a way to preserve the "solidness" of the walls and still add say an insulating plasterboard?

Was thinking of something along the lines of thin coat of render, then attaching insulated plasterboard straight onto it, skim coat on top?
  • Spray-in insulation can be a quick and cost effective way of doing this - its worth looking for local companies on the internet to get some quotes.
  • i am also looking into this for a georgian house,

does anyone have any experience with sempatap or similar? its like a insulating wall paper?!

would like to use it on there house but need advice

    thanks

    :)
