    Hamish's categories are utter nonsense.

I would imagine most potential FTBs are also potential beneficiaries from inheritances, but if you asked then whether they'd like their relatives' properties to keep increasing in price so they can, one day, possibly inherit more, or whether they'd like properties to go down in price so they can afford to buy now, off their own bat, guess what the answer would be?

Maybe you, Hamish, were overjoyed at the thought of future inheritances. Most people are not so ghoulish.

As I say the only poll I have seen suggests the majority do not want HPI.

The same poll suggests the majority do not want hpc, and that poll was taken before the majority of the crash happened. Only 28% wanted prices to fall back then. I'd suggest it may be less now that they have seen the horrific consequences to the economy of falling prices over thelast 2 years.

Whereas everyone else, 70% or so in that poll, wants prices to stay the same or rise.

Funnily enough, I suggested rising prices benefit the majority, and that falling prices only benefit a minority. I have no problem with accepting that stable or rising prices benefit the vast majority..... if that makes you feel better.

You however would not seem too happy about the concept of prices remaining at todays levels or higher..... As the majority want.

Emy's figures just as well make the point that stable or falling prices benefit the vast majority. Actually, make that point better, as it's 28% rather than 22% for the falling v rising part.

    .

Which is why I clearly stated potential FTB's would benefit from lower prices.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem?

    No, do you?

Reread my post, dear, there's a good chap.

    Try reading this sentence:

"Maybe you, Hamish, were overjoyed at the thought of future inheritances. Most people are not so ghoulish."

Then go away and try and understand that normal people don't sit eagerly awaiting their relatives' deaths so they can grab some of the loot.

Whatever.... I don't mind stable prices, I don't mind rising prices.

I prefer rising prices, but I benefit from either one......;)

You on the other hand only benefit if prices fall. Which puts you in the minority that want lower prices. Which no matter how you try to manipulate survey data, remains true. Only a small minority benefit from a crash. Only a small minority want a crash. And as we live in a democracy, policies to lower prices are not likely any time soon.

Perhaps you could point out where in my original post I claimed they would be overjoyed?

Just in the interests of accuracy, and all.....

I don't really care what prices do as I'm not planning to buy anytime soon.

But this isn't really about me, is it?

Good fun to try to make it about me, though isn't it.

Takes people's minds off the tosh.

Post no 39 - "The family members of anyone who will leave an inheritance," are acc to you, better off with HPI. Irrespective of any other factors in their lives. Like wanting to buy before their relatives have all pegged it.

Actually, I'd better not say that.
