Cheapest; J Reg Fiat Uno given to me for free by a workmate who was going to scrap it. MOT'd for very little, ran for ages, great wee car.

Dearest; £2000 for a Micra years ago, gave it to GF shortly afterwards. That was a "one off" spending that much!!

Probably had bout a dozen cars in my life, most bought for a few hundred. Have never bought a "lemon", all have lasted at least a year.

If your carefull it's economic, worry free motoring.

I'd love to get into the bangernomics thing but I'd need to be able to insure absolutely anything I could find for a reasonable price - not possible at 19 with a fault claim :rotfl:

Currently have my first car which cost me £2000 - a 2003 1.5 Nissan Almera

I had cars given when I first passed my test, First one a Mini van. The cheapest I have bought £40 from Auction inc. fees (bought it for the no. plate) had tax on that I cashed in for about £60. That was a Volvo 340.
Dearest we have bought £25,000 Landrover Discovery.
Dearest car we've had £44,000 Lexus RX400h, my husband has a company car limit of about £50,000 so we'll be shopping again soon.

  • Dearest was a new BMW Z4 six years ago. Paid 33,000 cash for it. The days before big mortgages and kids! Sold it about a month ago for 8,500...

Couldn't half put that 25 grand depreciation to some good use now!

Least: Old Vauxhall Nova £950. Loved this car, was my first 'own' car after divorce.

Most: Renault Clio £10,600. First own new car. Loved the idea of being the first owner of a car but was not an astute financial decision in any way.

Least was £25 on Ebay (really) for a Citroen AX with a duff engine, it was fine because we needed body parts to sort out a crashed AX.

Most expensive I paid for was a Corsa GLX on a V plate, cost about 12k. I have had more expensive cars but they are/were company cars so probably don't count.

Least was £25 for a 1957 Austin Cambridge; fantastic car, real leather seats, really comfy and column gear change. Ran it for a year with no problems until the MoT ran out then it would have cost £60 for the MoT (king pins) so reluctantly I scrapped it and bought a 2.6L Rover 100 for £90.
Most expensive £1000 for BMW 5 Series. I do my own repairs so prefer older cheaper car with little depreciation and no worries in the supermarket car park !
