The blue light in the disc slot on my Wii consul flashes periodically, does anyone know why this is.

Its because it's Christmas, Nintendo make it flash to add a festive air to your Wii.
Actually it's downloading an update over the net, assuming you've got it connected to the net.
Our's is doing it at the moment too. When you use it again it should stop. It's my problem, it's my problem

And it's my problem if I have no friends

i seem to remember having the same thing, however it was an unread email i think0

Its an alert that downloads are available.

The Wii disk drive flashes blue when there is an unread message on the message board. You get these periodically from Nintendo, but also every day that you play, the Wii creates a message saying what you have played, and for how long.
You can turn this blue flashing off - I can't remember how though. Will look it up and post later.0 -

Ours does this, are you sure it is a message? I found if I have it on it's side in the stand it flashes all the time, if I put it on it's side then it stops. I just thought that the annoying blue light was broken.0

It's because of a message. Check the message inbox.
If you've turned the wii off at the wall, then back on, the power indicator will be red. If you turn it on, then off, you'll notice the power light becomes orange. That's because it's listening to the internet and will pick up any messages. I recently turned my wii on for the first time in a year (to play Zach and wiki. if you have a wii and DONT have this game, you should be shot) and ended up with a huge amount of messages alerting me to updates and so on.0 -
Many thanks one and all,
I have tried to get this info from nintendo, they are unresponsive"Imagination is more Important than knowledge"0 -
You can check the messages on the bottom right of the Wii home pageSquirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
