I rang pay roll and apparent its holiday pay, because I go back to work on the first day of the new year and I had a few days left over and I cant take them over to the new year so they paid me for them.

You would have thought they could have put a quick note in explaining it!

How nice of them to go out of their way to send a cheque to arrive in time for Christmas rather than hand it over in the New Year.

Im very grateful for the money, especially since Im moving house in the new year.

I dont think they went out of their way to get it to me for Christmas particularly, they just sent it the payday before Im due back to work, the timing has just worked in my favour. I work for a very large very complicated company I doubt the people in pay roll even see me as a person just an employee number on a computer screen!

Interesting that it is not in your wages so you have not paid tax and NI due on the money?
