In one of the links I posted there is info about keeping yourself legal by using HM bio diesel. I think it was the FOE link, it tells you how to register with HM customs and excise to pay the duty.

Customs & Excise
There is a common misconception that if you are running your car on oil, either unconverted or converted into biodiesel, then you are outside the law. Not at all. So long as you register with HM Customs & Excise (ask for form EX103, see the number below) and pay the duty of 26 pence per litre you are perfectly legal.

Maybe the thread should be updated as you are now allowed to use Biodiesel etc and NOT need to register or pay duty if using less than 2000 Litres.
I use straight vegetable oil in my VW T4 Camper costing aroun 98P a litre from Bookers cash & CarryThe DWP = Legally kicking the Disabled when they are down.0
