  • AVG is bloated, slow and misses things.
Avast has twice this year stuffed up millions of Windows installations by quarantining legitimate Windows files.

    Paid for: Kaspersky or NOD32
    Free: MS Security Essentials.

I use Kaspersky (£14.99 via CoOp bank) and have little trouble. I do have to update it myself sometimes as it forgets to do it!!

It does have loads of reports, settings and messages though.

I use Malwarebytes and CCleaner as well. Also I have Mcafee Site Advisor running and use Firefox most of the time.

I've just installed Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 on my computer, (the Barclays offer), but noticed on installation that it doesn't contain virus protection. I have Windows Defender running at the mo but could anyone recommed a a good virus protection programme I can use that will run happily alongside Kaspersky?

    Cheers, Birdy

kaspersky IS an av prog...you don't run more than one as they conflict...what you need is MBAM for anti-malware alongside your av.

Thanks for coming back GunJack. Contrary to my earlier post, on re-booting the compter to allow Kaspersky to take full effect, virus protection is now also showing so it seems I was a little premature in posting!

    Cheers, Birdy

NB. sorry to sound thick but what is MBAM?

    Microsoft Security Essentials is free

Of the pay ones go for 2 or 3 and avoid McAfee it's rubbish.
