Help needed please.
I have a Dyson DC18 slimline which needs to have a new power cable fitted. Theis is apparently a fairly straightforward proces involving spade connectors on the end of the cable, and in fact I have a qualified electrician who will PAT check it.
However what is not so straightforward is how to dismantle the handle in order to actually get at the connectors. There are 4 screws at the back of the switch cover which have been removed, but there is something else holding the bottom of the switch cover in place.
The cable alone cost £18, and Dyson wanted £40 to fit it, hence the reason for a DIY (safely though as it WILL be tested).
Any help gratefully appreciated, and home wanted for labrador puppy who chewed through the cable (only joking)- it was unplugged at the time.

I am not familiar with the DC18, but this video may help

BTW no need to PAT test if its used in the home.At times any combination of my spelling, grammar or punctuation may be incorrect. Please do not pick me up for this as, after all, it is only an internet forum.0 -

Many thanks for your help, but unfortunately the Dyson DC18 is entirely different than the video. There is a front plate which is connected the the main body of the cleaner with 4 screws, but there also appears to be some kind of catches, maybe plastic lugs, and I'm reluctant to start prising the thing open.
The top halp of it is free, and I can see the spade connectors, but there isn't enough room to actually get at them.
As for the PAT test, thanks for the info, but it won't harm to have it checked after work, and as its a friend it won't cost anything.0 -
well knowing how manufacturers like to use hidden clips i guess a little gentle levering may be in order, its certainly the case on some models.
Have a look at this, its for a DC14 but may give you a few ideas......
