Hmm...
What spec will you end up with when you upgrade your old PC? What will you be using it for? The price of the replacement does not sound too bad (although I'm sure you can get better value if you shop around e.g. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/172709 )
My own view is that upgrading a 5 yr old PC is a false economy - but I am biased coz I am a techie geek who usually replaces every 2 years or soChris Elvin0 -
I must add that I have had several Acer computers and have always been happy with them.
So I suppose the decision rests on how much the extra £140 will hurt your financesChris Elvin0 -
i have a p4,3.0ghz,160gb harddrive+1.5gb memory.
upgrade would be something like 1000gb harddrive+3gb ram.
i do a couple of dvds+cds per week,(downloading+burning),
surf net, email+all daily stuff, sometimes all at the the sametime+its slowing me down.0 -
What m/b do you have now?
It's your cpu slowing you I guess.

about £135 delivered -2gb mem.
You may need a psu and you may be able to use your mem. if ddr2
BOTH cpu's are close - http://www.cpubenchmark.net/cpu_list.php but for £20 more you could get e6500.
I went from 3.2 pent to 2.0 ghz dual core~ massive difference.
1TB h/d -why?0 -
motherboard-asrock p4s61.
ddr2 pc 2700 184pin memory.0 -
Your m/b is old socket 478 - http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P4S61 - no dual core support, no sata and not ddr2 mem. Think you'll need a psu also.
That supplier has cases from under £6!!! £15 DVDRW and you'll be all new.
I assume you have an os (xp?) to install?0
