gas cooker - quicker to heat up, nicer to cook with

electricity - cheaper initial cost, slow to heat up

as far as bills go i think they're pretty even at the moment, correct me if i'm wrong...

For most people it depends if they're kitchen has a gas or electric fitting for a cooker

The general consensus tends to be gas hob, electric fan oven for cooking.

Decent electric fan ovens are very efficient & fast to cook, no heating up time required,so are comparable to gas for running costs.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.
  • Thanks for all messages.
I will probably stick to gas as thats what I am used to.

That narrows my search down. I now need to find a cooker with FSD under £300...
  • Electric now, fast and efficient. Get the best but not cheap.......

Did you look Argos, they have gas cookers which have FSD and cost less than £300?
  • Thanks for all mesages, I have looked at Argos, I am not particularly happy with the reviews I have seen on the available cookers on Argos and other sites.

I have decided to wait a bit and carry on with my old cooker, a lady at Comet advised before long all gas cookers need to be FSD Compliant so the prices of these will drop and there will be more choices for me.

It doesn't help that I want in it silver as well .... anyway, I have bought a fridge freezer instead! :j
