My BT problems and solutions!

Hi I'm the Fearsome Pirate and I wanted to share my experiences with BT.
In March, I wanted to quit talktalk because my connection kept getting cut off. I was unhappy with their service so I decided to switch to BT. I thought their unlimited internet was a great deal and you get loads of extras like digital vault and free McAfee security software which I thought was a great deal.
Everything was absolutely great until my second month. I happened to be a few days late with my bill and they rang me on the Wednesday asking for payment. I told them I would pay on the Friday (2 days later) which I did at 12:30am! Later that day after work, I came home and when I went online I received a message "your broadband service has been suspended"
They said I hadn't paid my bill which I absolutely had and if I wanted to be back online, I would have to pay £75. The bill was only £30!
So I spoke to BT in India and they asked for 24 hours to be reconnected. 24 hours later, I rang quite irate and was told they said 24 working hours which meant Monday. I told them they couldn't fob me off that easily and they said they couldn't do anything until the Monday. I sent a stern email and on the Sunday morning I had been reconnected. So much for the not being able until monday.
A few months passed and I received a phonecall from someone at BT. I told her I wasn't interested in buying anything and she was all snotty and told me she wasn't selling anything. She was telling me off because I had cancelled a direct debit and "I wasn't allowed to" So I reinstated the DD and that was that.
So everything was great until I had issues with my speed. I went from 7mb/s to 200kb/s
I rang customer services in India several times only to be fobbed off with them saying it was a "line problem"
Things got no better and I figured out that at precisely half midnight, I would get 7mb/s and at half 11 in the am, I would be throttled to 200kb/s or less.
I contacted Customer Services and they said they would check the line. Things went from bad to worse speed-wise and I did some looking round on the internet.
On another site, someone had commented that if you ask to make a "Chairman's Complaint" things would get taken more seriously.
Well the next day someone from the UK! phoned and said he would check my line. Then a few hours later he rang and said he would send out an engineer.
I told him I was so fed up with BT, I wanted to end my contract (broadband, line rental, call features and bt vision) and asked how much it would be. Baring in mind it's 8 months away, he said £120. I told him I was in an 18 month contract and he put me on hold and said that was right.
I'm assuming making a Chairman's Complaint let me out of the contract because I received a letter from BT saying it would cost me £26 to end my line rental early.
So I've changed over to Sky and I couldn't be happier.
Hats off to this Chairman person for sorting my problems out but should it take the head of BT to help it's customers.
So I'm looking forward to a new service from Sky but if I have any problems I'll be sharing them here if thats ok LOL!
Regards

My advice would be to pay your bills on time
If only life were that simple! Sometimes things get taken out of your account and you can't do squat about it for a week even if it's not your fault.
I'm sure most people have been late with their bills at some point. My advice is for anyone who is regularly late with their payments and what you can do about it when bt refuse to take you seriously - go above them LMAO!0 -

pay by direct debit0

So to clarify month one and you never paid. Couldnt pay when chased and then you wonder why they froze your account and then refused to activate it again until you had made full up front payment.
Hmmmm well I never.
The solution is pay your bills.0
