Standing charges vary between 80p per week and £3.20 per week. There should be no difference in the final cost between the daily standing charge version and the two-tier version of the same tariff.0

A flat rate with a low standing charge would benifit a low user0

If you are on British Gas's standard tariff you shouldn't have a standing charge. Some older meters can't handle this. in which case the meters are set so that if you use more than 1.4 kWh/day it works out the same.
They will change your meter to a newer one for free if that's what you want.
If you use less than 1.4kWh/day then the no standing charge option would be cheaper (same theory applies to other tariffs/suppliers but maybe different thresholds).
If it is working out the same, it might be that the new tariffs havn't loaded onto the meter yet.
If your meter has lettered screens, what are F, I & K?0
