I'm a little late, but would love to join in with this. I have a lot of people (especially kids) to buy for throughout the year and I'm hoping to be at least be money neutral for birthday presents. With this is mind, I went shopping yesterday as I have four birthdays in January (all kids) and managed to get presents for three of them at the amazing price of £6.97 (original price £29.84) so I just have my nephew to buy for now and I bought part of his present last year when my local Millets closed down (a lovely long sleeved shirt that says "explore...you never know what you might find") which cost me £4.20 (originally £6.99) so I just need to get him one more thing (Spongebob Joke book) and that will be January sorted.

To earn my money back I use a few different things, I did start on Dooyoo but they locked a load of my reviews and took away loads of points, but maybe I'll try that again. I also use BigCrumbs on Ebay, but I'm not sure if that offers the best cashback, have a Waterstones card and I have a Nectar card which I use for Sainsburys and Amazon. I also do the free daily scratchcard on Butlins Bingo and whenever I get to £2 will have a go at one of the other scratchcards and this morning I won £12 on that.

    Hi all

Have been awol for a few days as was hoping to get to see my Dad and stay a few days but the weather has stopped me going but havent found time to come on here. We tried to get there yesterday, wanted to go the Tesco first to get the monthly shop, got in the shop at 11 and it was heaving. We didnt get home till nearly 3 in the afternoon adn the snow had been coming down again so didnt get to Dad's after all. Bought some nice wallpaper in B&Q's on the way to Tesco so me and OH decided to have a go at doing our dining room up when we got home. The wall paper only comes halfway down the wall all round as we have dado rail and a picture rail in there and we managed to finish it in four hours but I wa so exhausted after, I just collapsed on the sofa, couldnt even eat my dinner as I was too tired.

Have done a bit on Dooyoo but cant remember what I was up to now befor the challenge so will just get on with it instead. Am doing well though so should be able to claim another voucher in the next few days.

We are heading up town in a bit when OH gets out the bath, not looking forward to that really as I hate trying to walk on the snow, I just end up clinging to OH's arm as I think I am going to slip over. Still might get some bargains while I am up there.

Chat to you all soon, Rufus xx

Well done Rufus, sounds like you are doing well - be careful in the snow. We have had someone crash into their house here and my mums uncle end up in hospital after slipping and knocking himself unconcious! Very bad!

Ddraig - CONGRATULATIONS! I'm sure these threads have the pregnancy virus - it seems to be spreading :D yay! so exciting for you!

Well I'm pretty chuffed. I put 5 things in a vintage Etsy shop that were going in the bin. I was adamant I was shutting the shop by 31st Dec if it hadn't sold. Anyway I didn't get round to it, and lo and behold, today...we have a sale! Sooo pleased! Will only get about £4 after postage but I feel it is going to a good home and not a landfill.

So I'll put that on my eBay challenge money too! :)

Yey, I've made the £20.00 on Dooyoo. :jI'm now going to aim for £50.00 this month. If it hadn't been for this thread I wouldn't have even started by now as I've had a Dooyoo account for over 6 months and never done anything with it.
    Thanks.
And I've got my first MSE star - double whoopie
Trying to be money neutral for christmas
  • congrats Ddraig :) hope all goes well with you and bump :)

no luck on moneymaking yesterday as our tinternet was down all day :( so not a happy bunny... have a few offers on my ebay listings, so just done a wee counteroffer as they do seem a little ridiculous (not being fussy just think they are being silly) just gotta wait and see now :)

gonna list a few other things I got for nothing, and not too fussed what I get for them. every little helps after all..

Got my fabulous house yesterday :) i love it... i've especially fallen in love with there solid pine stair case :O

gonna have the joys of moving in and paying bills again :( :O:O

  • Just read this on dooyoo It was brought to my attention by someone that the rules involving DooYoo Mile have changed, so After reading the “what are dooyoo miles” here http://members.dooyoo.co.uk/community/_page/faq/ I am less than happy that reads/rates on reviews over 6 months old will not be counted

    I didn't know this...!

I guess you could just update your reviews that are 6months or more and they would get miles again??? I'm not sure!
