Buying a New Car? Stop this Metallic Paint Rip Off!
Comments
-
When buying a car tell the salesman that you will accept any colour he can get. Invariably they will come up with a metallic, as most cars seem to be these days. That's when you say you are not willing to pay the extra. If they want the sale they will reduce the price accordingly. I've done this, it's always worth a try.0

There are other reasons why metallic paint is desirable....our thoughts on this might help!
Over 90% of the orders we take from customers are for metallic paint cars - the paint wears better, looks better for longer, and doesn't show stone chips/dings etc as easily. A flat solid paint shows every chip and dent and this affects re-sale values.
Manufacturers offer solid paint ranges as standard for those buyers who merely weant a 'workhorse' vehicle and may keep it for many years, so re-sale value means little. For anyone who wants to keep the car looking good and get best value at re-sale after 3-4 yrs, metallic will always win...so that extra bit spent at the begiining does have advantages!
As metallic is sought after most spare stock is built as metallic also, to satisfy demand.. so if you want a car in a hurry there's usually a choice of metallics, but not much solid-paint stock is kept. The dealerships still have to pay the manuf'r for the car inc' the cost of the paint so as long as the dealer's kept a healthy margin in the car sale for himself he might be willing to squeeze that down to offer you the metallic 'free' - but its just coming out of his pocket.
Some manuf'rs offer free metallic for short periods, i.e. Focus Sports are currently getting free metallic as a manufacturer offer.
Hope that helps!“Official Company Representative
