Hi,
I have an MBNA card. According the online banking service, its offering 0% till July 2010 for 3% fee or 6.9 life time with 3%.
I am interested in the 0% but it will only run for 7 months. Has anyone tried increase promortion period and any success?

You could try to get it increased before making the BT but once you have done it then the chances are almost nil - at least I could not get it extended and so had to close and move at the end of the 0% period.0 -
ok - what about if I apply for a Virgin card - its currently offering 16 months 0%. Will they consider my application as I already have an MBNA card?
Do MBNA allow transfer of credit limits beteen cards?
and finally if the application gets rejected - is it possible to speak to the underwriter and get the MBNA card closed and Virgin open?

Martin says in the balance transfer thingy;
It's long been a best buy though, which means many people already have the card, or another from the MBNA stable (inc. A&L). If so, you may be rejected or given a lower credit limit0 -

I have both the Virgin and MBNA 0% BT card - had the Virgin for about 2 months before applying for and getting the MBNA card. So don't see why it should not work the other way round.0 -

1) Possibly - depends on your limit, other commitments and usual payment history
2) Nope
3) No, they wont do this.
And to answer a question above, MBNA will not extend any promotional rates.
Is also quite possibly although Virgin card may be approved, you wont get a promotional/introductory offer as you have already had one on the MBNA card.No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

I've had both MBNA and Virgin CCs for quite a while now and they always seem to have some kind of offer on.
I have more than once transferred a balance from one to the other. You cannot do it directly however, you have to BT from one card into your current account, then pay off the other card. I don't think there can be anything wrong with doing this as it was the method recommended to me by MBNA themselves.
Edit:
Sorry, I originally misread. I thought you were asking whether you could transfer between the 2 cards. As for transferring limits between the cards - I don't know. I wouldn't have thought so though.0 -
.....you wont get a promotional/introductory offer as you have already had one on the MBNA card.
My colleague has 3 different cards from the MBNA stable, MBNA itself, Virgin & Alliance.
On eachcard he has had initial promotional offers, so its is not true that you can only get one promotional offer!!.
Also another good part is once you open a new MBNA affiliated Card you can move your limits to the new card and ask for the old cards to be closed. So you get the new promotional offer on the total credit limit!!:beer::beer:0 -

Alliance & Leicester are currently being rebranded to MBNA since Santander will issue their own.
Previously, people may have got more than one promotional rate, but this is no longer guaranteed to be the case.
You can only move the limits between the accounts providing that one of them has a zero balance - as they wont transfer balances between cards. No Longer works for MBNA as of August 2010 - redundancy money will be nice though.

Just an update.
I did apply for the Virgin card - it was referred which I thought it will be because I do have quite abit of unused credit cards.
I just spoken with the underwriter and they have accepted my application on the baisis that my current MBNA card limit will be reduced to 1k and reminder will be transferred to the new Virgin card. I accepted this.
He also confimed to me that I still can have the 0% balance transfer offer available to me.
