Nothing like getting kicked in the gut when you are already down is there?

If true. I'm not suprised because nothing ever goes the way of the people in this country nothing no matter who we vote for or follow it always goes tits up.

The recent court decision 'went the way' of a fair proportion of the people in this country.
    Gone ... or have I?

I'm 100% fine with whatever the OFT decides to do.

OK can someone clarify a few points for me because i seem to be missing something.

*OFT say in principle charges are unfair and are looking for a point of law to allow them to judge fairness officially with a full investigation.

*Supreme court rules that they cannot judge fairness based on the disproportionate penalty of the charge but do not close the door totally.

*OFT are possibly/probably going to announce at 7am tomorrow that they will not be persuing the case further.

I just don't understand why. Surely the Office of Fair Trading should be persuing cases where it feels consumers are being treated unfairly.

Lot of dodgy Christmas presents they'll have to look into, also a major crackdown on fake designer goods. They also have endless complaints about out of date bacon etc to look at. Unfortunately something had to give so they've given up on some of their more trivial enquiries.
  • banks get billions from government and a xmas present from the oft

I hope it's not true that the OFT will do nothing to challenge the bank charges further; if so, it just shows another government organisation soaking up taxpayers' money and giving very little in return.

They thought it was over ... it is now

(although some still don't want to believe it 'til the morning)
Premier, mate, what have I gotta do to get you to work out what will happen?? Do I have to spell it out in primary school language??
We have to read what they say first of all. But let me speculate on if the news is correct.
    1) OFT do not proceed
    2) MSE et al have new template letters perhaps or maybe there is representative group actions taken
    3) Banks start to pay out again and again, and are sued again and again.
    4) OFT HAVE to act since the pressure on the court system comes to the fore again, etc, etc,.
The fat lady is not yet singing, the Test Case was meant to bring clarity to the issue of bank charges, yet it hasn't done. If it had then I am sure the posts would be different with the exception of financial hardship ones since the bank still has to look at that issue AND furthermore, they still have to look at business financial hardship which is about "micro enterprises"

Of course, if there was a compromise deal(not my preferred method) then so be it.
I have not worked for NatWest Bank since February 2009
