Upvc draught excluder

I am having a workman round next week to fit draught excluders to external Upvc doors as not wind free.

I wondered if anybody else has ever had this done, how it was afixed and did it work??

I am skeptical as its a fairly new door!!!

I'd be sceptical too...shouldn't need any extra work doing to it and should have been draught proof after installation.
When you open the door there should be a rubber seal all the way round the perimeter of the door that makes contact with the frame. It simply slots into a channel around the edge.
A badly fitted/adjusted door may lead to a draught around it
I would be getting the installer back to rectify the draughts. Assuming they did actually fit the rubber strips in the first place it should just be a case of a few adjustments on the hinges to bring the door back into full contact with the frame when it's closed.

There is a draught excluder on the door and the frame except for the bottom where there is a rubber brush.

I reported it to the Landlord and that is their remedy!!!!!

If I had the ££ I would get the door realigned myself. I don't want to attempt it myself in case I do it or myself an injury!!!

It was a battle to get the new door in the first place as I had a mortice lock on the old Upvc door!!! (multi lock failed as wrongly aligned too)

Sounds like a low-threshold ..we have the same with the rubber seal hanging from bottom of the door. If there's a draught coming under the door then dropping it slightly may help but that in turn may mean some adjustments needed on the catches too.

To drop the door down you would need to adjust the hinges. The latest hinges can be adjusted in/out up/down left/right. Not all of them are that obvious how to adjust. I got our installer to show me how to adjust ours as i had them out multiple times before it was setup right. The installer should really be coming out to adjust free of charge in my opinion.

If you do attempt to adjust yourself, experiment with each adjustment and see how the door moves in it's frame..bit at a time and you should be able to work it out. There is normally some adjustment on where the mushrooms catches on the door frame and where the lock catches into it's stay.

A workman came to fit draught excluder to my Upvc doors and suggested the original installer adjust the fairly new installation and look at my other external door.

Why my Landlord couldn't have got the original company back wasting every ones time!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do you think I should get compensation for the wasted morning waiting in and extra energy being used (escaping out the gaps, you can see the daylight coming through the bottom!!)
