Brighthouse and HDTV

i bought a HDTV from brighthouse as yes my credit is quite poor at the minute, now when i went to buy the said tv (Sagem HD-D45 G4) the little paper brochures they had instore listed great features aswell as been High Def it had integrated Freeview, Photocard reader etc.....
Now having recently had problems with 1 or 2 channels on sky+ i decided to maximise the tv as the channels which were playing up on sky were E4 and More 4 (both of which you get with Freeview) so i got some co-ax cable and ran it from my aerial point to the TV, now when i went to tune in the Freeview channels the DTV buttons didnt work... read the instruction manual and did what it said and still nothing, so got the Digi cam to try the card reader (who knows maybe a problem with the TV or the DTV tuner) and could not find the Photo card points at this point getting very angry i looked again at the instruction manual and it says at the top *DTV only available with HD-D45T model, and same for the photocard reader so i looked at the back of the telly to find mine said Sagem HD-D45S clearly not a T model and the S does not have the Freeview etc, so i dug out the agreement and this says i have a HD-D45F (which is the newest model currently available and includes all the above) then after looking at various websites the stand which they have supplied is a "Universal" stand for any DLP TV upto size 42", again firstly the TV is 45" so theoretically too big (however the Sagem Tv's do taper at the bottom so it does fit ok) however yet again the agreement says i have a Sagem stand model - ALFAV423G, this stand according to Sagem direct DOESNT even exsist. so i will be on the phone to brighthouse in a couple of hours,

Just wondered if anybody else had had these problems or if they have even realised, i have had the TV 2 weeks ad only just come across it by chance, as much as i hate sky they have helped me find my TV isnt what brighthouse say it is.

Hope you find this information useful should you do business with brighthouse or if like me you already have.

Hope you get your TV replaced with the one you ordered, one thing does the warranty include replacing the lamp as I understand the can cost £200 odd to replace.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

forgot i had started this post but ill give you an update which has actually saved me £2000

After massive arguments and debates with brighthouse i recieved a phone call from there finance dept he stated that because i had not paid my weekly installments for the last 4 weeks they were terminating my contract and i now had 2 options: 1) I pay the outstanding balance in FULL and keep the tv and stand OR option 2) i can return the TV and recive what money i had already paid as a refund.
(the reason for me not paying was basically as above i was sent the wrong product and demanded the correct one before i pay anything)
After a bit of a debate with the guy on the phone he gave me a week to decide what i wanted to do, well this phone call happened on a Friday, the next Friday at 1945 (yes quarter 8 on a fri night) i had a knock at the door, went to answer it and there were 2 lets say largish blokes with a piece of paper saying they had come to collect my tv, and as he barged into my house as if he lived there i slammed the door on the other one feeling quite intimidated with these 2 big guys stood in my house so got it to at least one (had a chance then if n e thing happend :D ) So he looks at his piece of paper and goes to the back of the TV to check the model number and low and behold its the wrong one (he had a copy of my agreement) so then "squaring up" as it goes demanded to know where the TV from "His" company was, so sat there and said i didnt have a clue what he was on about, now you could see him getting very angry at this point so i demanded he leave my house to which he refused (untill he got "HIS" Tv back, so i rang the police who arrived had a chat with them about there behaviour etc took the papaerwork and then the copper proceeded to check the serial number which didnt match i explained the situation and he said legally there is nothing he can do apart from escort them out of my house as they couldnt prove that my TV was apparently theres from brighthouse, so all was left at this point, i rang BH the saturday to ask about my replacement (Cheek or what :D:D ) and the gentleman on the phone said my account was no longer active and it had been closed as the goods were returned. hmmm
I belive i just got a £2500 TV for the whole of a £15 delivery charge. been 6 months now and still nothing, double ckecked my credit report just to make sure they hadnt done anything and nope nice and clean :D:D:D

    Brilliant :rotfl:
You can always get more with a kind word and a 2-by-4 than with just a kind word.

Absolutely brilliant end(? hopefully) to the saga.

  • Serves the beggers right. I see a lot those Brighthouse agreements in the job I do and it's not uncommon for the robbing bar stewards to charge double the value for the telly itself and then have the cheek to charge 43% APR interest rate over 3-5 years!!

    Good on ya. :T
