Came across two W7 laptops set to workgroup but asking for a domain to login to (domain was name of other laptop).
So i went to domain/workgroup settings and set domain to be NOT part of a business network.
Both are bluescreening on start-up now and mucking about.

How do you mean 'Come across' ? Were they lying around? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

What of the system recovery options in Windows 7? Are these available to you? You don't necessarily need the W7 media either, as SR should be on your hard disk.
