Text Message recieved from Littlewoods

telling me they are taking £50 from my bank account on...26th December...
I don't have a Littlewoods account and never have. The number didn't show up on my phone as just a number but as Littlewoods so I did a call and quickly hang up and it's showing as 54885396637 which obviously doesn't work.
I am a bit worried about this and will be keeping an eye on my bank statements but has this happened to anyone else? I can't find anything via google and it's never happened to me before...

I haven't had anything like this before but I would try to find a contact number for Littlewoods and give them a call to let them know that this message is going about. They might not do anything but they may send out a mailshot to their customers emails to let them know to totally ignore it so hopefully no-one will get conned by it.If At First You Don't Succeed, Call It Version 1.00

If you've never had an account with them then it's unlikely they have your bank details, so I wouldn't worry about it - it was probably a text meant for a real customer that was misdialled and ended up on your phone; it's easily done.0

Can you google the number it came from? It could be a phone scam where when you ring back it costs ££££.0

I am thinking it might be a mis-dialed number but I'm worried about someone trying to hack my phone/bank account0 -
Have you ever had an account with any catalogue company. (Very, Empire etc)
Most of them are owned by littlewoods and often they end up identifying themselves as littlewoods when they phone even though they are not calling from that catalogue.0 -

Only ever had a La Redoute account, tend not to go for catalogues as I'd rather pay straight up that and i've not bought anything for £50 recently!
If it's a scam I think the chances of them having my phone number AND bank details are slim but don't want to wake up and find someone has been at my money especially over Xmas!

Sounds very much like a scam. The only time I have ever heard of Littlewoods taking money directly from an account is where a discount code has been used that the purchaser was not entitled to.
Keep the message and contact your mobile phone provider to see if they can give you any information on the sender and whether it cost you anything to receive it.
Try to store the 'Littlewoods' number in your phone so that if they attempt to ring you it should come up on the screen.0 -
Probably a premium line scam line.
Had a few of those, just ignore it.0 -
Agreed ignore it, if it is something important they will do more than text. And if they do take any money they need a direct debit which you can pull back anyway.
I think scam more than a mis-dialed number. But thats just meAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0
