    Hi
Looking for some advice, I normally carboot and have never been at a craft fair but I was given an application form by someone representing a local craft fair, who saw my table at a carboot. I sell jewelley, mainly watches and silver bracelets, necklaces and earrings, but I do make some glass beaded bracelets aswell and sell these. Is there an unwritten rule about selling new items, don't want to get the evil eye from the people who make their own stock (wish I was that talented). Also any crafts fairs with tables left for 6th Nov. Thanks

There is an age old debate on brought in stock -v- hand made and the verdict normally comes out as room for everyone at the rignt event! You may find some fairs request hand made only and you should always make it clear when booking in that you stock is imported rather than made by you, just to be fair to the other crafters. One of the main issues is price - it may take us jewellers upwards of 3 hours to make an item, plus cost of the materials, only to find we need to sell it for £10 in order to sell it at all because imported goods are so competitive price wise. So long as you're up front no one should have a problem with your stock not being hand made. Good luck!
Life's a box of beads - rainbow coloured and full of surprises!:D

:TBanbridge was really good today...really enjoyed chatting to lots of different crafters. some wonderful stands...had a quick peek round..could have spent a fortune but didnt have time.would def do that one again!

Glad you enjoyed Banbridge, it is usually a good one for me, the numbers through the door were definitely well down this year though, but still went home v happy with my sales - have you ever seen more jewellery stands in one place though!!!!!

Had a long, deep and interesting conversation with the effervescent Kenny Redmond yesterday, about the joys of running a food business, making money, losing money, making money again etc, etc - the guy is amazing 10 kids, and still all his own hair!!!!:A

    Hello Stephen
Agree with everything Rachel has said, you need to make it clear when you book, also most craft fairs cost considerably more for a table than a stall at a car boot (and you might get less customers) so you might need to reflect this in your price.
I know a couple who sell plaques at both the booties and craft fairs, and they often sell a lot more at the boot sales - you just have to keep trying and see what works for you!
