help having trouble with matured halifax regular saver

has any one had this, my halifax monthly saver anniversary is today, the money that was in there plus interest (which has been credited today) is now swept into the nominated account.

i have gone online to transfer into my halifax current accounts and wont let me transfer there and it also will not allow me to set up a "payment" elsewhere??

anyone else had this or is it just halifax system is down or something??

i have tried moving out from £74.38 (the interest only) up to £1000 of it and none seems to be transfering (there is £4000 in there)

In view of the time that you posted this (4.52am), it might be something to do with the time. When mine matured I was able to transfer the funds out straightaway into one of my Reward accounts, but it was around this time of day (6.00am ish).

The linked account that mine was automatically transferred to was a Web Saver, don't know if that might make any difference.

yeah mine is called - nominated account, web saver, variable - when trying to do internal transfer i keep getting this message Sorry, we are unable to complete your request. Certain accounts may require you to leave a minimum balance in your account. If you are still experiencing difficulties one of our systems may be temporarily unavailable. Please try later.

i have tried taking out no where near the account balence so know it cant be the minimum balence issue, and i have tried transfers this morning between my other halifax accounts (as i have a couple reward accounts) and they are going through fine???so it doesnt appear the internal transfer system is down.

however when i try setting it as a payment to an alternative bank, this is the message i get instead Unfortunately payments are not available on this account.

If it still won't work in an hour or so, I'd give them a ring (or use their ring back so they can pay for the call).

Have you ever put money in this account before? There needs to be at least £1 in the account overnight before you are able to transfer money out, so if this is the case, you will be able to do it first thing tomorrow morning.

thankyou 10_66 and rb10, i appreciate the help

i have never paid into it before as it was an account they opened for me online when i opened the halifax reg saver online and when i asked about it in branch a few weeks later, they advised me at the time that i didnot need to put any money in as would not be activated until the monthly saver had matured anyway?? so may that is what it is rb10, because until today nothing has been paid in.

thanks also for the suggestion of the ring back, will check to see if rb10's suggestion is correct and if i still cant draw out tomorrow, will use that

I think RB could be right. Min matured on 8th and I was able to transfer it all to my reward account at around 3.30am. My nominaed account was a websaver too but I had been putting the £5 rewards into it too.

    hi all

thanks for the replies, it appears that you are correct. i popped into branch as i had to make a payment into my current account anyway, and asked whilst i was there.

it is because nothing has been paid in until now, if the account is opened with a deposit or if an automatic payment is paid in later the same day the account is opened, you can automatically withdraw the day of account opening, however if not, the withdrawal facility only takes effect overnight after a payment is received because their system updates these over night

so for instance had i paid £10.00 in the day halifax opened the nominated account could have withdrawn it there and then apparently, however if i paid it in a few weeks later, would have only been able to draw out the next day, which is effectivly what is happening now, the money was swept into it on todays date so should be able to withdraw the money tomorrow morning (all bar £1.00 minimum operating amount)
