Broken Laptop

my laptop has stopped working, it is powering up you can hear it startting up and all the lights come on but the screen just stays black. ive looked around on websites and tried things like taking the battery out and power lead and holding the power button and putting power lead in but had no luck with this. I s there anything else i could try?

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
If it has a VGA connection, do you have a monitor to connect it up to. That would tell you if it is the screen that is faulty. Sometimes the backlight can go - can you see a faint image if you look very closely at the screen from different angles.

Yes, you might need to press the Fn/F5 key. Let us know if you get it resolved

I had a similar problem a year ago. So it could be the monitor but what happend to me was i used to turn it on, you could hear it turning on....and the lights also came on but blank screen.

Apparently the hard drive went or something like that went - not too sure now (im not that technical) but basically it was nothing to do with the screen.

Something about power surge or something?
