Car insurance - Driving other vehicles + under 25

I was on the Flexibell policy for the past 10 months with there driving other vehicles extension. It cost me £478 and my renewal is £768 on there standard policy, due to them discontinuing the other.
They say I get more benefits, but they have removed the 'driving other cars' extension.
So what companies are left that allow this? I know Quinn do, but I left them last year for Bell.
Bit annoyed really that my premiums are coming in so high with 3 years no claims, has insurance rocketed that much?!

Insurance premiums have gone up across the board for everyone for a number of reasons.
When premiums do increase Insurers often apply the largest increases to the higher risk clients so they can minimise the increases for the lower risk clients who are less likely to make a claim so they often prefer to retain these clients.
One of the other issues can be when an Insurer offers good prices for young drivers they inevitably attract a lot of young drivers. This usually brings with it a lot of claims and normally a fair percentage of those claims will be very expensive claims that include large injury claims. The Insurers then have to increase their premiums for young drivers to make up for the amount of claims they have received.
Have a look around for other quotes, with three years no claims bonus there will be plenty of Insurers who will be prepared to quote but few will offer driving other cars0 -
I would echo DA's post entirely, all quite correct. I would just add, that DOC extentions/sections have been dissapearing accross the market, and certainly from younger drivers policies. The police hate the section as it makes it hard to pin down uninsured drivers etc. It is also a fairly risky section.0

Can you get added onto the other cars as a named driver?
This might well be cheaper.
Or do you ciorcumstances make this difficult?0 -
Well, obviously I understand the risks and I guess in a sense it is the right direction to take. It just seems sad that at 21 nearly I can't drive other vehicles with permission.
I can possibly be added to my girlfriends car as a named driver, but don't want to bump her premiums up you see. I'll have to investigate who is cheapest since the extension now seems impossible to get from anyone.
Just surprised how much they quoted me really.0
