The op bought some brand new x brand straighters from Boots for say £30, they are returning some brand new x brand straightners and getting their £30 back I don't see any fraud or deception.
It's sneaky and not something most would do, but not fraud or deception. If she hadn't used the first set she could have easily mixed the two sets up and taken the wrong ones back by acident, after all they are exactly the same.

    Really:confused:

    some people amaze me

If she does decide to do this Boots is at no loss whatsoever.

I must admit I'm with you on this one! Times are hard & we are all here to save money arn't we? It maybe a little naughty but I think I would do the same (If I still had the original Boots box) Boots will not be out of pocket & lets be honest, they do topup on prices unless things are on special offer!
What ever you decide, have a great Christmas!

I can see both sides of the argument, but to be fair it is the exact same product.

If the OP had seen them half price in boots a week later and done the same thing people would not think this wrong so it's up to the OP really

  • Do Boots do a 'Price Promise'?

Look at the numbers under the barcode yourself. Simple.

Under what circumstances would you attempt to return them anyway,
Boots would be under no obligation to refund you just because you changed your mind..

And there would be a loss, Boots would have lost the profit from them,
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Exactly , but people seem to think that shops can afford to do this

i know someone who does this all the time - takes things back to different shops for refunds or exchanges. I used to work in boots and don't think there's anything different about their bar codes but can't be sure. I took a doll back to john lewis recently that i bought online at amazon (just because it was easier to return and i wanted a different one from jl anyway) but they scanned it and said it wasn't bought there (i didn't have a receipt though obviously). I just said okay i wasn't sure where it was from and sent back to amazon instead (when i looked at it there was a new bar code sticker over the top of the old one). I would return them and just see what happens. It's not really a problem - if you hadn't opened them and just seen them cheaper elsewhere you would've taken them back anyway and how would you know which was which? Good luck.

Oh and by the way, boots do give goodwill refunds - just because you changed your mind or for unwanted gifts.
