Can the straightener be refunded at boots in the following case?

I have bought a straightener from Boots last week, opened it and used it.
I have bought today the same straightener from Wilkinson (alot cheaper than boots one) and (will not open it) as i intend to return to boots providing my original boots reciept.
Will boots accept the return providing i will give them the receipt? will the barcode be the same?

Its fraud, please do not come on here asking us to help you commit it.
Yes, the bar codes are different.
Presumably you bought the second one with the express intention of doing this.
Its theft, plain and simple.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -

Boots will tell if the item is one of their stock or not when they scan the barcode to do the refund, so you will just end up looking a fool at the till!
Unless you have the orginal box from the Boots ones you have no chance im afraid.
I dont persoanlly see too much of a problem with this, Boots sold a pair and would just be refunding, they would get a brand new unused pair back and sell them to someone else.... nothing lost really.0 -

this is similar to going to a hotel and drinking a can or bottle of water from the refrigerator (charged stuff), then going outside and buying same things and put them back in the refrigerator to replace what you have consumed. Is is theft as well?0

Its deception for gain for yourself, isnt that the same as theft.
Its dishonest to say the least, make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

To be fair it's hardly crime of the century!
If you bought something then seen it cheaper somewhere else anyone in their right mind would return the more expensive one to save money.
Times are a bit harder these days and every penny counts. Boots will resell it and wont be any worse off in the long run and the OP will be better off. I would do it myself if I was in the same position.
Now if she was returning a set because they were broken/faulty or something then I would massively disagree with that!0 -

The correct term I think is fraud under deception. Your trying to pretend that you bought the straigheners from boots in order to obtain a refund of a higher amount then what you originally paid from Wilkinsons.
It is against the law. I used to work in retail and know this one well. It wont do you any favors- take the ones from Wilkinson back to Wilkinson or sell them on ebay/gumtree/newspaper classified section if you want your money back or give them away as a gift.
Its not worth you getting caught.0 -
The op bought some brand new x brand straighters from Boots for say £30, they are returning some brand new x brand straightners and getting their £30 back I don't see any fraud or deception.
It's sneaky and not something most would do, but not fraud or deception. If she hadn't used the first set she could have easily mixed the two sets up and taken the wrong ones back by acident, after all they are exactly the same.AKA: PC
