Just a a note: do not buy dell restore cds.
These are cds of the software installed on your machine, you legally own it but dell charge you for the cds!!
So if in 2 years time something goes wrong they will charge you for them!!
So if you own a dell, email technical support now and state that when loading windows a box apperas asking to insert windows cd. They will then send you all the cds free!!
PS This woulod usually cost £5+. If you have a bit of know how and buy a new pc, I would format it first and re-install windows to reomve all the dell rubbish!!

Well to be honest thats the first Ive heard, I have got about 20 odd over many moons and not once been charged so maybe they have changed tactics now, another reason in my book to steer clear of Dell boy.

Luckily found mine...0 -
on the latest ones there is no need for a restore CD, it's installed on a partition on the hard disk
worse case you can download the drivers for your machone direct form Dell support by putting in your "TAG" numberEx forum ambassador

Having the cds to hand means that if the hard disk is rendered useless, you can slot in another hard disk and reinstall the applications.Link now removed! sorry0

I have been arguing with Dell on the phone for weeks now for the CDs for the laptop I bought 3 months ago but they refuse to send them unless I pay! Please can I have the email address I should use to contact technical support? Thanks! :j0
