Local Cineworld Always Arctic Cold

This isn't really a new complaint as it's a regular thing but it's really getting to me as I am paying for an Unlimited subcription with Cineworld at the moment but does anyone else have this problem with Cineworld? Everytime I go to see a movie in any of the screens, most of the people watching the movie sit with their jackets on or even wrapped round them. I have complained via phone and e-mail and in person many times and always get brushed off with "We'll pass it onto the manager" or "Well there are no faults in the system". It's beyond a joke, it's not just a little bit chilly, it's a big enough problem to have several customers leave the screen to make a complaint throughout the film. I won't be renewing the subscription at the end of the year due to many problems with Cineworld, but it'd be nice to feel comfortable at the cinema rather than sitting in a temperature of about 3 degrees each time.

Believe me, we have often thought about taking a blanket in with us, it's not an exaggeration. I'm an unlimited holder so not easy to just cancel the membership and "snuggle on sofa" instead. Though I like to do both.

so why dont you take in blankets or sleeping bags? and hottie bottles? do management object? take a flask of hot soup! explain that on arctic expeditions you have to keep warm. oh - and do the staff mind working in those conditions? according to employment acts premises have to be kept a certain temperature.
  • Yep, mine's always cold

But we shouldn't have to take in blankets.

I actually spoke to a young guy tonight who said he was sick to the back teeth of people complaining of the temperature in screens, not in a nasty way, he was just tired of the problem. The foyer seems a lot warmer than the screens and the only time you see staff in the screens is 10 seconds before the end of the film.

It's not just Cineworld, it's every cinema as far as I can tell (well, my local branches of the AMC and Odeon are cold!). I didn't even realise people took their coats off in cinemas... I never understand why people buy ice cream when they go in there either, brr! There should be a Starbucks stall selling nice hot chocolates, not flipping Ben & Jerrys (B&Js = yum but not when it's slightly below freezing already).

It's comforting to hear it's not just mine, but are yours as cold as I make mine out to be?

When I've gone to the cinema with my girlfriend (we live 300 miles apart) we often go to Vue and it's always fine in there. I was starting to think Cineworld were trying to save money!

thats prob cause employment law says premises have to be a certain temp or they have to give people protective clothing!

if you want to go to cinema - and i cant imagine why - you freeze, are charged extortionate amounts to see film , and even more extornate amounts for popcorn etc, then dress up warmly - take blankets, food, flasks etc.
or wait a couple of months and get a dvd. then watch in comfort and warmth of own home.
and the cinemas wonder why they losing customers?

My local one varies from being so hot you occasionally fall asleep or so cold you need a thick jumper! And that's different screens in the same building which I know since we sometimes go for a double bill!

I work at Vue and if Cineworld are like Vue, then the heating is controlled by an outside company. To change the temperature they need to phone up the company to change it.

I've only had 1 complaint in my cinema that it was cold and that was tonight with the snow rapidly falling outside!
