New Hitachi TV from Argos (Any Hitachi/Bush owners?)

Hey guys, 2 days ago I bought this TV from Argos (The Hitachi L22DP03/4)

http://www.argos.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Search?storeId=10001&catalogId=1500001801&langId=-1&searchTerms=hitachi+22&Submit=GO+%3E

When I got home, plugged it in it automatically came on and worked brilliantly, good sound, picture and picked up Freeview fine. But the problem is whenever I turn it to Standby (It does not have an off switch) their is a buzzing noise which comes from the top back area, this noise doesnt stop, I even left it in standby for over 5 hours but the noise continued. I then checked the other LCDs in the house which are by Acoustic Solutions and Techwood and their is no buzzing at all when the sets are on Standby, in fact they are more or less silent. If I put the TV back on, the buzzing noise stops it just returns whenever it is put into standby mode. My first question, Does anyone else have this TV or a similar one made by Hitachi who can just verify whether theirs does the same? or is it a faulty set?

I have a 30 day money back guarantee with Argos so if no one else's Hitachi TV's do this then im thinking about exchanging it for this one, happily paying the extra £30 even though it does not have a built in DVD player. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5295353/Trail/searchtext%3EBUSH+22.htm My second question being, Any users here with experience of Bush LCD TVs and how reliable are they?

Thanks :)

Clearly its not supposed to buzz
But so your aware, Hitcahi no longer MAKE tvs, they just rebadge them (I personally wouldnt touch one)
    BUSH tvs are awful

  • I had a Samsung Bordeux 32" Tv. i brought from ebuyer.com received it and plugged it in , had the same noise as if something was arching inside. Phoned ebuyer.com and they said it was a defferently a fault , they said send it back and they will directly replace it.

I agree with Rik. Argos have 22 inch Samsung TVs within your price range, and they will be much higher quality.

Thanks for the replies guys :) I've just checked the stock for the Samsung's and their are no stores in my area with stock and home delivery is not available. The closest TV they have is this one, any good? http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5293654/Trail/searchtext%3E22+LCD.htm

The link isn't working for me. If you can't find a Samsung, have a look at the LG models.

If you can find one, Logix at Aldi - 26". £199 and my father in law loves his new tv, very impressed once I'd set it properly.

Also maybe look at F&H from Ebuyer? Got a 22" from there, paid £173 back in August. Sound is not the best but as it's in the bedroom it's fine. OSD is a little small, need to put my specs on if I want to see program info whilst still in bed!!!!

Can see it being offloaded to the boys for gaming!

Currently a 22" LG is available from Ebuyer for £185, looks a newer model too than the Argus offering?

As other have stated your TV is faulty, take it back and get a refund.

And avoid Bush like the plague. They turn up re-badged for a couple of companies.
Worst TVs manufactured by anyone anywhere (IMHO)

Thanks for the replies guys, gonna box it up and take it back to Argos tomorrow. have everything except one of the white foam blocks. I think I'm gonna go with the LG, I gather its worth paying the extra £50 for a reliable brand.
