Please give your unused pet food to a rescue

I have just given 5 x 2.5kg bags of dog food to a local rescue and they were so grateful. The reason I had it on my hands is that our dog has a sensitive stomach and several good brands didnt agree with him and I had rather a stockpile.
It occurred to me that many of you will have dog food in your cupboards too. At this time of year the rescues will make excellent use of it and you can have a bit of a clear out and make space for all those mince pies!

Yeah this very true. We gave our cats prescription food (after she died) to a cat rescue. It was suggested to me by an MSE'r and I hadnt even thought of it myself. Got some more to take now too (and cat litter) from our ultra fussy cat who turns her nose up at everything!!! Excellent idea to remind people!!0

A lot of larger rescues won't accept opened food, but the smaller independent ones often will.Declutterbug-in-progress.⭐️⭐️⭐️ ⭐️⭐️0

Don't know if its everywhere but in my local Pets at Home there is a "bin" near the door where you can deposit spare food & its donated to the local shelter.:happylove DD July 2011:happyloveAug 13 [STRIKE]£4235.19[/STRIKE] £2550.00 :cool:0

They also need towels/blankets/newspapers etc so if you having a Xmas clearout - rather than throwing things like that away....0

I'd go for the smaller independent rescues the bigger names such as RSPCA, CP always get donations. Your local independant probably need it more0

Anyone in London may want to help Celia Hammond:
http://www.celiahammond.org/
They always need everything and are grateful for anything.
The rottie we have "temporary adopted" (thread - Christmas - some people" has been neutered/vaccinated/microchipped by Celia Hammond vets free of charge - when we have explained the situation how he ended in our care.
They look after all needy cats in London, removing ferrals /neutering/releasing somewhere safe from sites that are due to be demolished etc.
Very dedicated to animal welfare.0 -
They may need collars and leads too. After our dogs died and we went through numerous collars with our current dog, they were given to the animal shelter.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

Thanks for the reminder - my vets has a box in the waiting room for donations to the local dogs home and I meant to get something to put in it and completely forgot. Off to add it to the "to do" list. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
For some reason stray/unwanted cats seem to find their way to our local recycling centre. The bloke in the office does give them food, but when I have any unwanted (because my cats' palates seem to change with the direction of the wind!) then I leave it with him.0
