Two a day and lasts about 3 hours.0 -
I think if you went on the real Mary kings tour, you will enjoy it very much, And it is not a ghost tour as such so should not be to frightening.
They are very busy at Xmas and new year, so you had better book soon0 -
Hi folks,
I have done it! I have booked and paid for the kids and I to go on the 23rd to The Real Mary King's Close underground tour, did an early morning booking so that it won't be dark when we come out...wish me luck :embarasse I will let you know how it goes .
Thanks for all the help everyone.0 -
Unable to go now, just spent the last 4 hours trying to get to the train station in Aberdeen, had to turn and come home. No way!!! Now lost my rail fare, hotel, meals and outings I booked...blinkin weather....what a waste of money, now stuck at home in the snow again!0

Oh what a shame!
Are you trying to drive to the station? Could you maybe consider driving to Edinburgh? The main roads are pretty clear.
Edit: Just thought that suggesting you drive to Edinbugh might sound daft considering you said you couldn't reach Aberdeen but it all depends on where you actually are. Not all roads up this neck of the woods are that bad, it's only some areas that are worse affected.Herman - MP for all!0 -

Sorry to hear that. I went on a tour on halloween at midnight (Auld Reekie) and I was so disappointed
There were over 60 people trying to cram in tiny vaults and at one point I nearly passed out and had to miss the rest of the tour.
The Mary Kings close is supposed to be excellent. They arent scary, its more of a story telling than anything. xx0/2013

Sorry to hear it too as the weather in Edinburgh is really not bad at all, will a taxi company not take you to the station and perhaps get a later train? When I say not bad, we do have snow and its very cold but the roads are passable.
ETA, can you phone the hotel, Mary Kings Close and see if they will transfer the booking to another date?0 -
Watching the local news now I can see your problem, I'd suggest you try and reschedule and phone the hotel etc. It looks terrible up there in Aberdeen.0

Just home about an hour ago, just checked Travelodge and they don't accepted cancellations after 12 noon. Had paid for Evening meals and breakfast tomorrow too. Phoned Mary Kings Close and they will transfer it for me to another date, phew!
Aberdeen was 'Gridlocked' this morning so even if I drove in it would still take a couple of hours sitting in the traffic. Was taking 2 hours to get from Bridge of Don to Castlegate first thing this morning. Wouldn't know where to park car overnight either.
Would never consider driving to Edinburgh incase the weather got worse tomorrow and I couldn't get home for Christmas. Live just outside Ellon and the Peterhead/Fraserburgh buses were few and far between, taxi only took us home from Ellon with some haggling. Don't fancy standing another hour and 20 mins waiting for a bus again that may never arrive. Was looking on net to book for next week but don't know what the weather will be like.
Thanks everyone.
Anyone want a night in Travelodge central? 1 Adult/2 children - evening meals and breakfast too?
Would offer my rail tickets too but no chance of getting them to you!0 -
To make up for what you missed you can watch Ghosthunting tonight on ITV2...
Ghosthunting With Louis Walsh...
ITV2
Yvette Fielding takes pop supremo Louis Walsh and Boyzone on a trip into the unknown as they brave the shadows underneath the historic city of Edinburgh. Below the city is a terrifying network of subterranean streets once occupied by criminals and the underclasses. Yvette will lead Louis and the boys to a hell on three levels as they descend through the forgotten streets to investigate a witches' lair and chambers believed to be haunted by evil ghosts. But will the lads make it that far?0
