(Not a) Ghost Tour of Edinburgh

Hi folks,
Going to Edinburgh with the kids Tuesday and Wednesday next week but would really like to see what's 'under Edinburgh' without being frightened to death. I am really scared of the dark and my daughter doesn't like it too. Told them about the Real Mary King's Close but read reviews on Trip advisor that it is dark and spooky . I sound like a real wimp but can sleep if not in my own bed and will be up all night worrying!!!:embarasse
Is there anyone down there that can tell me if there are any 'under ground' tours which are not made to scare the living daylights out of you? I know some folk will say that it's just a laugh etc but I have such a vivid imagination.
I know Edinburgh have a lot on for Christmas but any advice would be nice. By the way my kids are 12 and 14, not little ones!!
All help appreciated.

Sorry.I'm only laughing because I went on one of those tours with some MSE'rs from here during an Edinburgh meet and I had a feeling of panic afer only walking down the steps.
One poor person's coat sleeve was crushed and creased to heck as I had a hold of her arm and would not let go.
There's a few peeps from Edinburgh here so hopefully someone will be along shortly to help.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Mercat Tours do a daytime tour of the vaults, never been myself, but looks quite reasonably priced.

Aliasojo,
That's what I am like, a mouse can fart 3 miles away and I am like 'What's that?' lmao0 -
Horse76,
Thank You.
Looks good but their website has the word 'paranormal' on it and my mind is playing tricks already! I have just read some of their FAQ's too!! Your help is much appreciated though.0 -
Real Mary King's Close isn't a ghost tour as such and while it can be dark (take a torch with you) its more informative than spooky, unlike other tours
Or you could do a daytime walking tour which will give you an idea of how people lived in Mary King's Close from the outside.

The best "jumpy ootie" tour has to be the Witchery Tour http://www.witcherytours.com/ not scary as such but you will jump out of your skin0 -
Edinburghlass,
I have been on the 'Real Mary Kings Close' site several times and never noticed the daytime walking tour. Think the kids might give it a big 'thumbs up'.
Many Thanks0 -
If you do manage to go, will you let us know how you got on and what you thought?Herman - MP for all!0

I will let you know how it goes whichever one we decide to take daylight walking or undergound, maybe chance both!! Thanks everyone.0

Its a shame you will miss the Christmas on the Close tour, that would open your kids' eyes to what Christmas was like in days gone bye0

Roam Edinburgh rents out hand held digital walking guides, which let you do your own tours. That way you can stop if things get too scary! They have a demo on thier website roamedinburgh.com so you can see how the device works. - I see they have a haunted Edinburgh tour, along with 11 others.
The device can be delivered to your hotel, but in true MSE style you can opt to collect the unit from a shop saving you £5!
Hope you have a great trip!0
