    I am a man-made global warming sceptic.
According to Cepheus (and Gordon Brown) I am a "Denier" - This puts me in the same category as people who say that Auschwitz didn't exist - not good !

Why not? you Deny what the vast majority of scientists and virtually all climate scientists agree on, preferring to abide with some oil and free market sponsored propaganda sites.

The risks posed by global warming places makes the Nazis and Holocaust look like a minor footnote in terms of deaths and misery imposed upon the defenceless by powerful selfish interests preying on weak minds.

in the seventies i remember reading in the press that we were all heading into an ice age, Gordon Clown was on telly the other morning live from copenhagen

This is largely untrue, and was a minority view. It has been magnified out of all proportion by propaganda sites designed specially for people like you who don't check the facts. this creates doubt, confusion and diminishes the reputation of climate scientists so the fossil fuel companies can carry on regardless.

Every now and again, the myth that “we shouldn’t believe global warming predictions now, because in the 1970’s they were predicting an ice age and/or cooling” surfaces. Recently, George Will mentioned it in his column (see Will-full ignorance) and the egregious Crichton manages to say “in the 1970’s all the climate scientists believed an ice age was coming” (see Michael Crichton’s State of Confusion ). You can find it in various other places too [here, mildly here, etc]. But its not an argument used by respectable and knowledgeable skeptics, because it crumbles under analysis. That doesn’t stop it repeatedly cropping up in newsgroups though.

You know, even if climate change proves to be some giant global conspiracy, we should still be looking after our environment. Oil is not an infinite resource nor are fish or fresh water. What will help slow or reverse climate change coincidentally will also help slow or reverse our use of finite resources. Whether you believe that climate change as supported by massive scientific evidence is actually taking place or not, you should accept that we cannot continue abusing the environment in the way that we are and maintain our quality of life.

As AA Gill once poetically put it: ‘All the water that ever was, every ice-age glacier, every princess’s tear, every rill, gill, brook, beck and burn, each and every drop of monsoon, all scattered showers, every old man’s prostate dribble and teenager’s salivay snog is still here. The world is as soggy as the Garden of Eden.’

Since the dawn of civilisiation, miserabilists and misanthropes have spoken the language of natural limits. They have always been proven wrong. New resources are found, new types of resource that were never conceived of before, are found. And they always ignore the ultimate resource that is infinite - human ingenuity.
Freedom is the freedom to say that 2+2 = 4 (George Orwell, 1984).

(I desire) ‘a great production that will supply all, and more than all the people can consume’,

In those days we had honest science. So unlike the current group-think of eco-liars.

Oh dear - the usual hysterical rant !

By the way, I forgot to mention that I am CEO of Exxon and Mobil !

The "vast majority of scientists" were telling us (only a few years ago) that another ice age was coming. It wasn't that long ago that the "vast majority of scientists" told us the Earth was flat and the Earth was the centre of the universe - and if you "denied" that you got burnt at the stake !

Some Denier myths are like Boomerangs, however I have never had one returned within 4 hours!

Why not try the one about Volcanoes emiting more than humans, or it was Globally hotter in the 1930s.

Their are hundreds of prepared ones ready for you. When a scientist answers them just ignore them for about 4 months (not 4 hours that's a bit obvious) then say, 'do you know that Volcanoes emit more than humans?' and so on.

In fact you could waste the time of an army of scientists, perhaps that's your objective?

Just to save time just mention the line number in this link, say 'line 3', then I just reply 'line 3a', easier that way?
