Vanquis payment late

in Credit cards
I have always paid my card off in full each month.
Despite the odd £1.00 and 1 £1.42 charge for no reason (which have always been refunded) I have never had any charges or interest.
My last statment came in (around £350) and due to it falling on a weekend? the payment was about 3/4 days late in getting to them.
They called me up and told me they had not recieved it, I told them I had sent it and it should be there by now. The woman said she would put a hold on any charges.
When my statment arrived it had a £12.00 late payment fee and "purchase interest @ 3.433% per month" = £20.40. I called them up and they said they would refund the £12.00 as a good will gesture but as it did not get to them till the 3rd of Dec the interest would not be refunded in any circumstances.
Is there anything I can do or will I just have to pay it.
How will this affect my credit rating which I have been trying to build up (this is my first card)
Thanks in advance
J

You could ring again and ask but I fear you may just have to pay it.0

It all depends if they mark your credit file with a late payment marker.0

Think if it is only a 'late' payment, couple of days and it was credited in time for the next statement date ie: 21 December. But a missed payment would be if it got to them on the 22 December.
I know this happened with my hubby's Cap 1, a day late getting in, but they refunded the £12 charge and up to now no late market on his files:rolleyes:
I have a Vanquis and if I send a payment via the Fast payment service or FPS it is on my account the next day.0 -
Phone them again and be very nice and explain everything very clearly.
And pay in plenty time next time.0
