Liteon 5045 allwrite query

I have a 5045 gdl+ Allwrite and as a novice I have a question

I have tried to put a DVd film onto the hard disc using the dvd tray in the machine. It comes up with a protection warning and will not copy it to the HD.
What can I do to get around this ? I have made the machine regio free but it makes no differrence.

does anyone know a way around this please ?

The DVD is encrypted to protect its contents and as such cannot be copied leagally (although we should be allowed to make a backup copy)as such to remove protection and to make a back up copy only to your harddrive and then to a blank DVD if you require you can download something like DVDShrink (google it - the home page has long since be removed)
which will do the job ;-)

Thanks for that but I have dvd shrink on the pc, it also can't et around the protection and gives a time for backup time as in excess of 150 hrs...!

that very strange. to cut down on compression time set it to a 1:1 copy as in all 9GB on my PC this takes about 5 mintues (instead of 30mintues to 4.5GB compression).
it could be that the disk is dirty or it has missing data sectors which means it works fine in dvd players but messes up in PC's. Have you tried it in another PC? or cleaned the disk?

There is a program called "any DVD" which runs along side burning software i.e. Nero and DVD Shrink which will remove region coding and the encryption which is stopping you from burning.

Not sure if you can still obtain the software but a quick google search may sort you out

Yes tried cleaning the disk, I will look for any dvd via google cheers Rob
