Benefits if sacked

If I was to be sacked what benefits could I claim. My girlfriend who I own a house with will be studying in september and will have no income. Other than JSA, which I am aware of, what else can I/we claim? I'm mainly thinking housing benefit but I have no idea how this works really. We have a mortgage and no real savings.
Many thanks in advance

If you are sacked I would apply for benefit as soon as possible as any delay may been a loss of benefit.
Think you may be entitled to JSA, job seekers allowance, any benefits would take into account any money your girlfriend earns. You can't con an honest man!0 -
Depends on why you are sacked. It can be taken as making yourself voluntarily unemployed if you are at fault, so can affect benefits.
What leads you to think you may be sacked? And are you a member of a union who can help?Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.0 -

Housing Benefit is paid for rented accommodation. Mortgage interest payments can be made if you own your house if you are on income based Jobseekers Allowance, but these usually take 6 months to kick in. You would need to apply for them straight away though.
Your partner should contact the college and enquire about the Access funds.Torgwen.....................
