......and don't over condition0

Last time I did curls (for a 40s do) I used setting lotion. Worked a treat and really cheap from Wilkinson (you only need a tiny bit of lotion anyway). The curls would have stayed in for days if I hadn't washed my hair.0

Thats a great idea. Its funny how we always come back to older ways. I will try that myself.0 -
Also, make sure you don;t wash your hair for a day or so before you curl it otherwise it won't hold.Foreign politicians often zing stereotypical tunes, mayday, mayday, Venezuela, neck

A can of full sugar seven up in a spritz bottle...seriously! Cheap, and it works.Life.

I've got to try that, for curiousity if nothing else. I remember when I was a teenager in the 80's big hair was the fashion. If we didn't have any hairspray we would make our own from sugar and water, it made our hair go rock hard.......happy days.....:p0 -
Someone else mentioned the 'cold shot' idea - this is what my hairdresser does on me when she styles it, the cold air closes the hair cuticles and 'sets' the style into place. I have poker straight hair which I occasionally curl with GHD's and this does help them last longer!Ths signature is out of date because I'm too lazy to update it...0

me too - i actually took a can out the fridge and was admiring it... but didn't have a reason for curling my hair -0 -
Some very "interesting" ideas here which I will have to try next time! Thanks for all the tips. I ended up using mousse and hairspray before curling it, using a small barrelled curling iron, then adding some more mousse and scrunching my hair, and finally more hairspray. It lasted pretty much all night although they did drop a little but still nice and curly. It wasn't hard and crunchy either as I made sure I sprayed from arms length and didn't overdo it with the products.0

gwhizz have you tried curling your hair with your GHDs??
and then hairspraying??Love is the answer. At least for most of the questions in my heart,
Like why are we here? And where do we go?And how come it's so hard?
It's not always easy,And sometimes life can be deceiving,
I'll tell you one thing, its always better when we're together0
