New Remote Control for Old TV

Hi
I have an old Toshiba TV (probably 10yrs plus) that I want to give to my young nephew.
It works perfectly but I've lost the remote control. Does anyone know how I can buy a new remote the control and programme it to the old telly without knowing the access code?
As I say the telly is really old so I'm not sure there's anywhere I'd find the code.
Thanks
Wizzer

I've bought Universal remote controls before, and they've always had a list of codes. If you've got a Poundland near you, it would be worth getting one of theirs to try.
You can also get remotes for old TVs on Ebay.0 -
I've bought various Universal Remotes over the years and mostly found them to be impossible to set up. Ironically the keyring type from the Pound Shop worked really well but the functions are limited to volume, channels. mute and on/offI'm Glad to be here... At my age I'm glad to be anywhere!!

I have a Toshiba portable that was bought in '91 and it works fine with universal remotes. ASDA used to do a good one for £10 but then they stopped selling it and now sell an identical remote but in completely different packaging (with different branding) ...for 50% more! Fortunately Toys R Us sell a similar remote for a tenner - it's badged by Medion.0

I bought a universal, and it came with a list of codes, and it worked fine.
Or for an original try phoning mastercare...google it0 -
I got the poundland 5-in one remote control.
This came with a list of codes. Each manufacturer had a list and I tried each number until I found the code.
Knowing the manufacturer name narrows down the search a lot.If only everything in life was as reliable...AS ME !!
