city link and amazon

I ordered a trainset from Amazon as a christmas present. After 8 days or so it still hadn't arrived, so I looked up the parcel tracking details. City link, the delivery company had delivered it to some completely random person, claiming it was a neighbour. When infact it was a person I had never heard of. There was no card put through the door, no indication that anyone had visited. I have to admit I lost my temper with the city link call centre people, when they said Amazon had authorised them to do this. As a result I am now about £100 out of pocket, the parcel is god knows were and city link are probably trying to hunt me down as we speak. All I can say if your parcel is being delivered by these clowns, beware.

Get in touch with Amazon. Your contract is with them and it's their responsibility to communicate with citylink.

Amazon give city links contact details, finding amazons contact details is on amazon's website is not easy. Still googled it and got through to amazon. They say that it will be delivered tomorrow. Seeing as city link allowed a complete stranger to sign for something worth almost £100, I'm not holding my breath.
Why we allowed postal competition is beyond me. The post office is nowhere near as good as it use to be, but they are far better than these clowns. City-link must be cheap, it is the only reason that Amazon could possibilly be using them. Well it has just cost them a customer, cheaper isn't always better.
I lost my cool with the city link call centre because they couldn't see that delivering a parcel to the wrong address, and then not even bothering to post a card through the delivery address; was unacceptable. I do regret that, because I know what it is like to take the blame for someone else's mistake. The trouble with dealing call centres, instead of face to face.

We use City-link at work and they are always very good. We use another courier for most goods that are despatched, but City-link for parcels which are guaranteed next day or for a certain time.

They are certainly not cheap and have always been better than others we have tried
  • It's not that tricky to contact Amazon customer services. They have a freephone number.

City Link were supposed to deliver an item today today to my parents home. It was delivered to an apparently entirely random person who certainly doesn't live in my parents road (only 10 houses). I rang Amazon and they are sending the item again. Hope the recipient likes the free bike.
