MS updates every day?

It seems that MS bring out updates for Vista everyday. Is it always necessary to download them?

    It varies updates usually arrive on a Wednesday in the UK.
    The answer is Yes the important ones should always be installed.
    Have you not got automatic updates switched on?

    Update Tuesday occurs on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 8 UK time. Microsoft will release other updates throughout the month if necessary, but they certainly won't be releasing updates every day! Are you sure that the updates are being installed?

    The daily updates are probably for Windows Defender - the included anti spyware application

    I prefer to disable 'let Windows automatically download and update' and run manually - I mean for XP, as I deliberately shunned Vista;)
