Im a real fan of eggchasing and bought pro rugby manager 2. Ive installed it on an acer aspire notebook, sempron 3000, 512 meg ram, ATi X700 graphics running xp sp2. Whilst playing the game, after about 5 mins or so my laptop powers down, suddenly. Itll restart no probs but I cant play the game. Doesnt do it at other times. I have installed the official patch, no improvement and Im getting frustrated. I have searched for similar problems but I cant find any.
Can anyone help
Thanks in advance

when you mean powers down does it just shut off as though you have switched the mains plug off and no battery is fitted???0

Thats exactly it, no windows shutting down, just off. However most of the time itll restart, on one occasion it was forced to run scandisc for improperly shut down windows.Gas doc on the loose0

This is the same thing that has happened with my laptop a packard bell easynote, but now its even doing it if I have had it on for as while and maybe start an application (not specifically a game),
Thought i may have been a heat problem so bought a cooling pad and still the problem occurs, only 9 months old so may take it back to the shop0 -
very few laptops (such as alienwares) are actually designed with gaming in mind, even though some come with decent graphics cards.
Unfortunetly the realism is that there is probabloy nothing wrong with your laptop, you are trying to use a program that it cannot handle, and so your lucky its just powering down and not doing something worse.
If you want something specifically for gaming n, get an Alienware, a dell XPS (although i wouldnt recommend it) or buy a PC instead.0 -
Yes I guess your right. Works fine on desktop (really the kids), doesnt happen at any other time. Just have to live with it :rolleyes2Gas doc on the loose0
