Currys in-store/web pricing

Hey folks,

I'm currently shopping around for a new monitor, and noticed that with Currys and PC World they offer a cheaper deal online for some products, some times up to a £50 saving...

I'm just wondering is this practice legal? Do their stores legally have to match their online pricing?

Just seems strange to have two prices to me...

Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thankyou!

Can't you reserve it online at their web price, and then go into the store and pick it up?

Stores can sell whatever they like for whatever they want. There's no law that says they have to match the price of anything.

I asked them a few months ago to pricematch their own website for a tv I was interested in. It was £50 cheaper online. They refused to pricematch, even though it meant they lost the sale and I bought elsewhere.

I think Comet will match the web price.

We don't have any Comet stores in N. Ireland, but thank you anyhow :)

Although the price match is worded so that we don't have to match our own website, the general practice is that most stores do (the prices normally vary quite little).

Some of them say, however, "Web-exclusive, offer not available in store". Which means either it's only available to buy online, or you just reserve and collect for the lower price. But if you were to go into store with no reservation and try and buy it at the web price, you may not get far.

about 3 years ago we saw a 42 tv on currys website, it was for about £1,300 when we wnt intothe store locally it was a whacking £350 more and the manager didnt hesitate to price match once he checked the online price.

And again with a sound system, £30 cheaper on line so again i got a price match.

It pays to be a bit vigilant.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

well with more people with smart phones that can check websites prices while looking instore, when they say no you say oh well , then stand in their store and purchase the item online for cheaper, and excitedly and loudly tell your friend/OH who is with you. :D

Just bought a speaker system from Currys last week, ordered it online for in store pickup & payed the web price (which was a few quid cheaper than instore)... Make sure you take your printout with you showing your reserve price..
What if the Hokey Pokey really is what it's all about !!!
