Advice needed - shower question

Options
We need to get a new shower.

The one we have now is a Heat Store Esprit. We have no manual with it and there's nothing on the outside of the control unit to tell me what watt it is. I've googled this make of shower, and as it's an old one, I'm guessing it's in the 7 - 7.5w range.

However I don't know for sure, and my plumber (over the phone) said he can only replace like for like.

So, just say the one I have is a 7w, would I be okay buying a 7.5w.

Or if the one I have is a 7.5w, would I be okay buying a 7w?

Thanks

  • I suspect he is worried that an increase in power might mean an increase in the rating of the cable and fuse needed to power it. Going from 7.0 kW to 7.5kW would just push you over the 30A rating.
