no claims discount or not?

I have 2 cars in my name. One is my wifes which has max ncb and is fully protected and insured in both our names.
The second is my car, has 4 years no claims which is not protected and insured in both our names. I have just reversed into a concrete pillar which wasn't there and will make a claim. The no claims discount for my car will reduce to 2 years. When I renew my wifes car insurance I will declare my accident. What affect will it have on that premium as no claim will have been made against the policy. The policies are with different insurers.

As you will be aware, apart from the NCD being affected (second car) the premiums of both policies could be increased because of this.
But by how much is hard to predict - shop around online getting virtual quotes both with and without the accident declared to see which insurer gives the best premium for the new circumstances.0 -
It wont make a difference to the number of years NCD you have since a claim hasn't been made under that policy, but they could increase the premium to reflect the fault claim of a named driver but I doubt it for one claim.0

Are you a spiritualist? All matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration, we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively, there is no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we are the imagination of ourselves.0 -
I think I am too ashamed to admit what I did:o. Therefore, if it wasn't there when I started reversing I couldn't have avoided it! It just jumped out behind me, honest:rolleyes:0
