Dispatches (Chanel 4) has another programe on Mon 8th Feb about Royal Mail failures.
Might be worth watching as it might cover whats going wrong there.0 -
the dispatches programme from what i can gather is about modernisation and if the changes are working for the better. i'm sure custardy would agree that it isn't.cracker challenge silver: £610/£1010.00 :jOne debt vs 100 days: 1000.00/0.000

Hehe well it depends if you're asking the local 'managers', or the people on the ground. From what I've heard, in some areas, overtime hours hours have been cut etc due to 'modernisation' .. but the equipment/hardware etc isn't due to be installed for another few months (and this was in the run up to christmas).0

One of my friends has used the re-direction service 3 times now in the last two years. Every time, they have screwed it up completely. And every time, after persistently complaining, she has had a full refund for the amount she'd paid. So she hasn't ended up paying them a penny. That said, she would much rather have been without the hassle and had a service that actually worked!
I don't know how she got the refunds. She did keep getting offered books of stamps - but she told them where they could stick them!0 -

It is also putting people at risk of ID fraud.0 -
the fact is 99% of issues and failures with redirection can be prevented with a regular postie
i have over 40 redirections on my duty but i can pull them out as i sort the mail as i know who has redirections just by name
same goes when a redirection comes through with the wrong address(common in tenement stairs) then i know what the correct address is and can amend it
same for mail with the wrong address which would miss the redirection
even if i toaaly missed a redi' and took it out i would see ift before i delivered it
however that isnt in the RM plan and they want to break the link between posties and set duties
all this talk of modernisation and machines, ever heard of them setting up a redirection machine to scan addresses and redirect as it sorts?0 -

Reqular postie would have local knowledge.
Don't think they will ever invent a machine that knows Mrs Smith doesn't live at no: 27 but actually lives at no: 37, Mr Jones moved out of no:15 a few weeks ago and a new family moved in there with a large dog etc.0
